Also posted this on /r/legal but no responses there so far and I'm looking for as much info as I can get.
So, I've been feeling like my job has been doing shady stuff since the get-go and just want to know if I'm justified.
Is there a set rate compensatory time MUST be accrued at? (1.5 hours)
My job has always provided comp time at a 1:1 ratio and from what I'm reading, this may be illegal? I'm a non-exempt employee.
I also saw that you're supposed to use the compensatory time within the same pay period the time was accrued. But we weren't able to do so because our jobs often had us accruing compensatory time up until close of business on the last day of the pay period and we weren't permitted to just take days off to use the compensatory time accrued. So I guess it's good they let us use the compensatory time after it was supposed to expire? But we should have been permitted to just use the time prior to the end of the pay period is my understanding.
There's other stuff, but this is the big thing and I don't want to give away too much information.
