Had an opportunity to apply at Güber (name changed to protect the ignorant) for an Operations Supervisor role in one of their departments.
Not only was I overdressed (they made sure to tell me), but the recruiter failed to mention it was a panel interview. In walk 6 members of the leadership team with their personalized MacBooks and they start interrogating me on the usual behavioral questions that make me want to beat my face against a wall.
I was then tasked to create a business plan including KPIs for a mock product. It was called Güber Kittens and it involved bringing kittens to office settings for those employees to take a break and enjoy their day. I was given ten minutes. I swear to you I’ve never bombed anything so much in my life. I thought I would be creative since there was so little information to go off of. It was made apparent that I missed the mark. I actually felt so inadequate from that interaction that I had to take a break from interviewing for a month.
Moral of the story is that these large corporations have their heads so far up their own asses that they can get away with doing dumb shit like this. I actually refuse to entertain those types of interviews anymore and I’ve actually stopped the interview and walked out if they start veering off into that direction.
I guess I don’t feel all that bad that they are struggling and can’t turn a profit.
