Considering taking a mental health break from work

24/m, live at home with my folks. I recently started a new job, about a month ago, which has been ruining my mental health. It isn't what I expected so I dread going in most days, and I've started taking it out on myself (self medicating with weed and alcohol, not caring about my well-being, etc). I think I want to leave and take some time to get my head on straight, but it's only been a month so some people think I should try sticking it out. However I just feel in my gut that this place isn't right for me, and on top of my poor mental health, I just want to get out. I have a chunk of change saved up, and I live at home so I don't have to worry much about big bills, just some foodstuffs, gas, and my student loans. I also have some personal projects I want to pursue during this time, which could in theory lead to a way of income.

What would you do? What's the best way to tell your bosses you're leaving to focus on your mental health? Would you give a full two weeks?
