I’ve been working for this store for over a year now. Things were fine with me for a while and it really wasn’t bothersome
Eventually I moved up a little in to a different position and enjoyed the pay and what not
Then someone else working there wanted to go on leave for a long time, I volunteered to take over for them temporarily. I was told it would be like this and that.
Well that wasn’t the case and it turns out I was just absorbing their duties on top of my current duties for no extra pay (their position pays more and I get paid less). I complained about this but nothing changed really.
On top of that, one of my managers is one you would walk on eggshells around. Asking basic questions could set them off and make them belittle you, make you seem crazy or stupid, or make them angry. Although these behaviors aren’t allowed they couldn’t care less. They also hide in the office all day and help out only like 2 hours of their shift most days.
It’s getting ridiculous. However if I transferred I’d most likely be paid for what I’m supposed to be paid for, get a new manager (hopefully that’s better) and mostly only do the assigned duties of the new job; not some gross hybrid of the old and new
Only downsides are I’m going to miss the people connections were made with, transferring would happen in the busy season, and I’d kind of be screwing them over considering I said I’d cover this person for their temporary leave
Any advice ? Should I transfer or reconsider ? I do love the job I do but not all the extra work given and the bad management
