Just started a new job in the kitchen industry (canada). It’s only been two pay cheques, and both times they have been late. The first time was apparently a “bank error” which I’m not sure happens to that degree, and the second time they fessed up and told us that they don’t have enough money to pay everyone. Besides all the obvious health code violations, this is really leaving me feeling bitter towards a position I was so excited for. They already pay minimum wage, and by the friday I expect pay I’m already scraping by. Then they say it’s going to be another 4 days. My coworkers have told me this is a usual problem and it’s often longer than that. I quit my good paying job to come here to pursue what I went to school for but it was a big mistake. They hired 5 new people along with me and we’re all fulltime. Why do that if you can’t afford it? Jumping ship as soon as I get the opportunity. Is there anything else I can do?
