Controlling boss

We have monthly meetings at the beginning of every month for about 100 employees, most wfh. A new manager joined a few months ago and his been on everyone’s case to participate in a “get to know each other” exercise during this meeting where we all take turns to turn on our cameras and spend a few minutes talking about ourselves. (Fortunately) I have been either stuck in client meetings or on PTO for the last few monthly meetings we’ve had yet this manager is still sending emails the day before the meeting asking anyone who has not yet participated to be ready to do so, for one of those months he sent an email 1 hour before which is pretty unreasonable in my eyes but I think that’s up for debate. Am I taking things too personally here or is this guy being a complete tool for the sake…

Am I taking things too personally here or is this guy being a complete tool for the sake of having the ability to do so? Is there anything I can do to push back on this without making an enemy?

For insight, as much as I despise corporate culture I do good work and I regularly host meetings and calls so this kind of exercise doesn’t bother me, what does bother me for some reason, is the persistence of this manager.
