Convo with my grandma

Was talking to my grandma and asked her the hardest part of when she first married and lived with my grandpa- she replied how poor they were and hard it was to raise a family. I asked her how much my grandpa was earning in 1967 that made it rough. She said he was making 5k per year. I said hold on and plugged that into an inflation calculator and mentioned how that it’s 45k per year, she was like yeah that sounds about right. I then explained that most of the working class in America lives off 15k a year now… what did she say? “Oh….okay” They refuse to see the struggle. It’s infuriating – how does that not elicit a sad response.
