Corporate forcing pre-open catering orders

For context, I work at a popular US chain restaurant that some people use for catering orders. We always get busy around the holidays, so from open to close we are slammed with $500+ orders going out just for the catering food. This doesn’t include regular orders both in house and to-go. This week, the upper levels called our store to reprimand us for tell customers they can’t pick up their food before we open (11am).

They said all customers are allowed to pick up their food as early as 10am, an hour before we open up the restaurant. Never mind the concept that staff only shows up at 9am, where they have to complete all of their opening work before being able to make any orders.

The extra kicker is that we also must do deliveries that early, and we don’t have delivery drivers, they just make someone on staff use their personal vehicle to stuff food into.

Now because of this, all of our opening staff today “decided” to be “team players” and they “chose” to come in early today in order to push out the 4 $300+ orders coming in before we unlock the doors. Forget all of the morning prep work in order to not get repeatedly fucked all day. Really obvious corporate hasn’t stepped foot in a kitchen, nor do they give a shit about employees having to work outside their scheduled shift times. But hey, anything for the customers!
