I started feeling sick after my boss left to go to their “summer house” they took one covid test after arriving at their destination and it was negative. Before they left, they were sick. My boss and I work closely, I'm the executive assistant (sometimes doing personal assistant work even though it's not in my job description). The week before they left, they were coughing, quite literally on me. I, in turn, became sick less than a week later. I tested negative for covid two days after onset of symptoms. I have been sick since June 8th with basically every symptom of covid except for a fever. I went to the doctor once in person and once for an e visit when my symptoms were not improving a week later. I've still been working full time from home. I am currently on antibiotics, but don't feel much better. My partner just tested positive for covid. I just took a test on the 20th and it was negative. I felt like there was a good possibility I could have had covid and just didn't test myself correctly. Thus, giving covid to my partner. I sent a quick email asking my boss how many tests they took and if they were sure they didn't have covid. I found out they only took only 1 test at the beginning of June and did not seek any medical care for the symptoms. They had “the flu” (not verified by medical professionals) stating they didn't get covid because they did not have a fever.
My boss's response to my email was “your health is not about us” and they started gaslighting me for getting sick and became very defensive. They became overly critical of my work which made me feel terrible about my work productivity.
I am at my breaking point with my boss. I can maybe get by for 2 months if I quit my job now. I don't understand why my health takes a backseat for my work. There have been many instances of issues with this boss for months and I this just broke me. I don't know what to do. I want to quit, but don't know if I can financially handle it. I'm currently applying to new jobs and have been for months.
