I recently started a new job as a 911 dispatcher and my trainer who sat next to me smelled of cat feces and dirty laundry for the first couple weeks and I didn’t really care because everyone has bad days and you never really know what someone is going through so i ignored it. the stench was so putrid that it was lingering and giving me migraines for holding my breath at times during the 12 hour shift which was causing me to have a hard time concentrating and learning anything.
After the first 2 weeks it was my turn to start answering admin calls and the migraines have been getting worse and im starting to consider jumping ship because the way that they talk to me is rude and condescending EX.(“WEWENTOVERTHISON YOUR FIRST TWO DAYS)and theres also some serious corruption going on that doesn’t align with my values.
Im also the only male in the entire dispatch center so i have been hesitant to speak up about it because it would be extremely awkward to have HR or a supervisor confront her and I don’t believe i have the right to do so. When i was in the military just a few months ago we would just straight up tell someone “dude you smell like shit fix it.” and that would be the end of it but thats not how real life works.
