Creating an off the grid community

I was talking with an older coworker (I'm 25, he is 52) about how under capitalism, we are born, we work, and we die. Most people hate going to work for little, if any reward. We do this from early adulthood into our late 60s. I mentioned that if I had money, resources and people who were on board, I would love to buy a plot of land near a river/lake somewhere relatively remote, and establish a community of say 30-50 people. Just reject the modern capitalist society. We would live off the land by growing our own crops, livestock, resources, which would be maintained and enjoyed by everyone. Each person or family would have their own cosy cabin. I wouldn't want us to go back completely to square one. I would still like to have electricity for basic uses via solar or wind. We would live off the land by growing our own crops, livestock, resources, which would be maintained and enjoyed by everyone. Each person or family would have their own cosy cabin.

I wouldn't want us to go back completely to square one. I would still like to have electricity for basic uses via solar or wind. Perhaps some basic Internet access, it can be useful.

Everyone could a specific skill that they could bring to the table. A doctor, carpenter, teacher, farmer, councillor etc.

We would all chip in to maintain and improve the community, but we would also have a lot of time to enjoy our hobbies, and general live without the stresses of modern life. No rent. No work. Just enjoy being human, enjoy nature and the happiness of community.

If I had the money and could find like minded people, I would absolutely do this.

I'm sure I'm missing something more but this is just a basic premise.

I don't want to be a slave for capitalism for the majority of my life.
