Dad has to retire because he has cancer.

My dad has been a chemistry professor at our local university for 34 years now. He loves his job. He is currently 66 and was planning on retiring at 70. In December of 2020, he was diagnosed with cancer and has been off of work since then. He first used up all of his personal time, and when that was over, he took a six month leave of absence. The university called him today and told him his leave of absence was over, and basically his options were to return to work or retire. He is nowhere near ready to return to work, so he chose to retire.
