So, I work a day-shift gig. The hours can be long as many days I’m working at least an hour out of town, and we work around construction workers’ schedules. If the construction crew wants to work 12 hour shifts, we will be working 12 hour shifts. But I’ve dealt with it as I’m home every night… I try not to complain, even though I was promised 40-hour work weeks (it’s often more than that) and a promotion likely before my first year is up (I’m at month 10 and the position I was promised has been filled).
Next week my manager (new manager that took the position I was promised) surprised me by switching my schedule to 8pm-8am shifts. It’s screwing with my entire life outside of work for the month-long project. My dogs are on a day-time schedule, my girlfriend is on a day-time schedule, my body is on a day-time schedule. They’re not offering any additional money for the late hours. Any advice?
