I have been employed for 9 years with a corporation that is on the fortune 500 list. Only the last year and current year has been the best case scenario. This doesn't count for time off from COVID due to state lockdowns (which they still made us work 9 hour days from home M-F). 8 years of my career has been the worst case scenario.
8 hours of work + 1 hour paid lunch (and no you can't leave early every day for your lunch break)
On call always expected to answer corporate cell phone (but they respect your time if sick or on vacation)
45 hours a week minimum, over time pay at straight pay if over 45 hours a week, to get over time pay at time and a half you must have over 60 hours in 1 week
2%, 3% and 4% depending on corporate will be your salary raise a year IF you get one at all that year. Really depends on the health of the corporation.
Best Case Scenario (running only 2 shifts because business is low and no overtime)
365 days in a year
104 days off for weekends (so long as no overtime exists, never promised)
15 days off for vacation
10 days off for holidays (so long as no overtime exists, never promised)
This means you will work 236 days out of the year for the corporation and you will have 129 days off for yourself/family
35.4% of your year is your/family time
64.6% of your year is the corporation's time
Worst Case Scenario (running 3 shifts because business is good)
365 days in a year
15 days off for vacation
5 days off for holidays (some you worked over time and some you got lucky to have it off)
This means you will work 345 days out of the year for the corporation and you will have 20 days off for yourself/family
5.5% of your year is your/family time
94.5% of your year is the corporation's time
