Declined a job offer

So my current job doesn’t pay well but it’s easy and remote so I just get my work done in a couple hours and stop. I was offered an entry level position at a new remote job that paid more and offered more time off, however, my current employer was willing to match the offer and give me a promotion. However, I saw that someone at my current company left for a higher up position at this new company, which I was actually interested in. So, I politely declined the job offer and mentioned how I was interested in this job that I thought was a better use of my skills. And… I just get left on read. They were pretty bad at answering my questions prior to this so my offer actually got extended so I’m not sure what I expected with this, but I was at least expecting…

So, I politely declined the job offer and mentioned how I was interested in this job that I thought was a better use of my skills. And… I just get left on read. They were pretty bad at answering my questions prior to this so my offer actually got extended so I’m not sure what I expected with this, but I was at least expecting a “thanks for letting us know, good luck with your new position” email.

I definitely made the right decision in not accepting. Like why am I expected to be nice and professional when a company can’t even email me back answering my questions or wishing me the best of luck?
