Did what I was told. Now I might be fired.

I am a paramedic. I work for a very small municipal service. We were explicitly told in emails that if we were sick, not to come to work. To call our chief or deputy chiefs, test, and await further. Well, I did that. Every time I was told: don’t come to work. So I didn’t. But it was burning up my sick time so I stopped. I got what I thought was allergies and so I didn’t think anything of it. Turns out, it was Covid. I was off for two weeks because I kept testing positive. All of this is based on the chiefs own rules. Finally come back, I’m back like a week and my husband has some issues (psych) so I had to take off. Chief says my days off are excessive. Never mind 95% of them were because of his own rules. I cannot file for FMLA. It hasn’t been a year.
