I got a job at my college last month that doesn’t pay very much but would just give me some extra pocket money and something to do at night and on the weekends. because it’s at a college they have weird procedures that I’m not used to about setting up your employment thing, making a direct deposit, and entering the hours you worked in the work database even with having to clock in and clock out while you’re at work.
I couldn’t get an appointment to set up my I-9 thing until a week or so after I started training because I didn’t have my social security card, which was at home (I live in a different state than I go to school in), and when I got it I did the appointment but even then it took a couple weeks to get my employee database thing set up. and by the time it was set up it was either close to or past the deadline to enter in my hours, which I’m not even sure why I have to do in the first place. and even though my manager said some shit like “I’ll have to contact payroll or HR to see if they can help with this even though it’s unlikely”, I haven’t heard anything and I tried to text her about it and she hasn’t responded.
honestly I’d rather just not have to work than have to deal with all this. has anyone related to this or something similar before? like if work is gonna be a mandatory or recommended thing for us all is it so hard for us to just apply and then be hired and get paid without all these other forms and procedures? it doesn’t make sense and it annoys the hell out of me.
