So this happened about 8 months ago, but it still makes me fume. So I was at this company for a over 1 year and 4 months. The company was wife and husband owned, only 10 people. The wife was HR. I had another supervisor I reported to. The entire time I was there I was told I was doing a good job, yes I made mistakes along the way because I'm human, but overall everything was always positive.
So a year and 2 months my boss yells at me for a minor fixable mistake I made. It was my bad, but these things were not a common occurrence. 4 days later I finally get my '1 yr' on my performance review. It was totally unexpected and terrible. The male owner spoke mostly the entire time. My supervisor, who always liked me, tried to say nice things about me and then the owner would talk over her. He was pointing out mistakes I made 6 months back, cherry picking things to berate me on. I was crushed and felt really beaten up. Especially since the owner has no clue what I do on a regular basis.
A month later I found another job. On my last day I talked to my supervisor to network and say goodbye. I was honest with her and told her I was crushed after the performance review and it was part of the reason I left. She straight up told me that she scored my review higher and the owner lowered all my scores, likely to avoid a raise.
