I recently accepted an internship role doing help desk support at a small retail company. It’s me and another intern and we’ve noticed that the staff there, a majority of them are rather cold and pretentious towards us. Me and him are being really kind and courteous but it seems many of them won’t budge. Its weird.
Yesterday something in particular happened that kind of made me a bit concerned. There was a staff member carrying some heavy boxes to the break room and I asked her politely if she needed help she sternly said “I dont need your help thanks”. My cubicle is next to the break room so i over heard someone else come in and say hey you need help with those to which same person said sure. It made me chuckle but I was embarrassed at the same time.
I come in every day and say good morning but it just seems like no one is interested. Its my third week and I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t thinking about looking for something else. Do interns normally get this type of treatment as a test or something? Its a bunch of creatives there like graphic designers and directors as well as executives do but at the same time geez lol.
