Do not work in the Costco deli

I just quit my job working in the Costco deli after nearly three years, and if you want to work at Costco, try to get a position in the ancillary departments that aren’t deli or bakery. Costco overall is a great option for people that need a stable job with decent benefits, but I would really stay away from the deli based on my own experience. The work is grueling, you get covered in grease and chicken blood all shift, yelled at by rich white people, and worst of all management will ride your ass like a passionate lover. I didn’t always hate working the deli, when I worked at my first warehouse in little ol Oregon, I loved the hard work and the energy.

But when I transferred warehouses after moving to the metro area, my perspective completely changed. All of this was due to my new manager, and the management team as a whole.

Nothing was ever good enough for this guy, even though I had proven myself multiple times, he still would come and yell at me when we were behind on chicken and put all the blame on our department not “performing” well on the chicken guys. He is also very manipulative as he would give us two day weekends, which is really rare at Costco, and then basically say because he does that we should just deal with his bullshit. He expects far too much for us to handle, and then when we tell him we can’t handle all of it in a respectful manner, he gets mad and tells us its our job and we need to figure it out.

I finally put in my two weeks after finding a new job, and yesterday was my second to last day. Keep in mind, this guy has been making my life hell the past two weeks. I ran out of chicken while I was on my lunch, and when I got back he went after me telling me I didn’t have the chicken room down. I respectfully (which is more than he deserves) unleashed on him. I mostly did that because I was hurt by him and couldn’t let it slide anymore. Later my coworker overheard him speaking with another manager saying “I’ll let him finish out today…” and they stopped talking when they saw my coworker. Idk what that means, maybe some of you could help if they try to to fire me today lmao

Anyway, today was supposed to be my last day but fuck that. I ain’t helping this guy or this company for one more day.
