I tend to get caught up in the moment when it comes to kiosks asking for tips when checking out at the counter. I just give a few dollars to help the person at the counter, always a good tipper.
We've all discussed how tipping is getting out of control. It's everywhere, and it's easy to forget that we don't tip at the gas station when ringing up fuel or whatever.
Anyway, I was mindlessly punching in a tip for a cashier today, and she told me, “We don't get the tip.” She was brazen and firm about it, so I selected NO TIP. I thought the owner better to asking for up to 30% tip at the register and KEEP IT. I'll never go back.
When you're out in public, don't tip the man. Pause for a beat and ask the employee, “Do you get this tip?” Let's make this commonplace.
