do you need a reason to call in sick. i need to call in sick one day this week and i’m worried about what excuse to give

it’s 420 on wednesday lol and i couldn’t get the day off. i need an excuse to ‘be off sick’ but i don’t even know if i have to have one? they always ask ‘why’ and i’m wondering if i could say it’s personal or something along those lines?
