does anyone else struggle to suppress the urge to be self-righteous at work? to ignore right and wrong and just do your job?

I have a nightmare of a boss, who is so incredibly incompetent that it's apparent they don't understand not only what they are doing, but the data that they're responsible for managing. They've asked incredibly elementary questions that show that they literally don't understand the absolute basics of working with data. I am currently trying to leave the team by joining another team within the company, and our director and VP wanted to ask why I wanted to leave the team because they know about me, they know I'm a really great resource that knows a lot.
