For context my place of work has a meeting set for Presidents day, and I have no reason to be there. My last day will be March 9th, as I am moving back to my home state. I have a good relationship with my bosses and they already are aware I am leaving, giving them ample time to find a replacement. However they haven't explicitly told me I don't need to be there, and I am assuming they would like me to be so I can “announce” my departure to the entire team.
However, I for obvious reasons do not want to spend a full day getting lectured and training for a company I won't be with and people I will never see again. I was debating sucking it up and going because why not, it would be nice to see Max before I leave. Max is our Therapy dog that works at my previous location. After receiving the nightmare of an agenda today, including our timeframe being “8AM UNTIL PAU (plan for a full day)”. That is a hard no from me.
I was thinking of not-so-lazy ideas (just being sick for example), some last minute appointment like at the DMV or something regarding moving, which isn't too outlandish being on an island it's a very big move with lots to do. Thing is it's on presidents day, most things of that sort will be closed. Any ideas are welcome and appreciated!!
TL;DR- Looking to brainstorm any excuses to get out of this meaningless meeting on President's day, when almost every good excuse is closed.
