Looking for a new chemical engineering job. making 96k/yr right now, with no ability to work from home. I want a hybrid schedule like many of my peers.

Got an interview for a job that is 100% in front of PC. Listing didn't say anything about WFH, but I figured it was a possibility. Secured an interview, and the interview experience was disappointing.

– walked in and was asked to fill out an multi page paper application (job history, references, personal info, etc.). I already gave all this information online, as well as it being on my resume.

– 3 separate 1+ hour interviews with 3 different managers. They all asked similar questions. We couldn't have just done all 3 managers at once?

– Sent me home with a writing assignment to complete and email back to the interviewers

Anyways, then instead of emailing me an offer letter they call me with a verbal offer. They offered 90k/yr, basic benefits, no 401k matching, 2 weeks PTO for all vacation, sick days, etc.

I told them I wasn't interested because the salary is still on the bottom end of competitive, and most of all because of the lack of ability to regularly work from home. Doing my part to push the industry that direction.

TLDR: Turned down a job offer because of weak pay and no ability to work from home
