My manager hired me as a sales associate and had me come in the next day to bring in my ID, she was there with a moving van and her dog. Had to go home to get a different form if ID, came back, she was gone and her number had changed.
Worked the next 2 days having no clue how to even run the register (11 hour closing shifts) then had to open then store myself today (after closing last night), which im not authorized to do and dont even know how to do as i wasnt even trained as a sales associate. Basically just had to figure out everything by a combination of google and making calls. Last night i was just given a key and told i was opening alone.
The manager is gone, and i am an untrained sales associate acting as manager now. Ive been running the store alone all day and just got a call saying i needed to send in a pic of my passport in the next couple of hours or i will be terminated for doing manager duties when ive not even had my identifying documents sent in. I am so desperate for money for food that im just taking it. I have an interview lined up for a job in my field for Wednesday but i dont have much hope as ive been passed up countless times for refusing to justify the gap in my resume (late termination of an incredibly rough pregnancy, highly illegal in my state) out of fear of a conservative interviewer tryna get me arrested or something. Like even if i said miscarriage, i dont owe them that info.
Bonus, everybody ive worked with here at DG the past 3 days has told me manager purposely schedules employees on the times they have explicitly said they are unavailable (single moms on night shifts, people who dont have their own cars when transportation is unavailable) and then writes up said employees when they physically cant come in for scheduled shifts bc they have kids to care for or no way of getting here.
She also ONLY uses snapchat for communication and has sales associates doing her job (they could literally all be fired if corporate knew) but we are all desperate. She made a point of only hiring single parents or ppl like me who cant even afford food for themselves.
TL;DR: my DG should be shut down, but im living off of literally a sack of potatoes until my first paycheck, so i cant afford to take action.
