Antiwork

Don’t be like me, don’t ever accept any offers/internal promotions/relocations verbally.

I have been working for this Fortune 500 company for close to 10 years. I have been promoted several times throughout the year. In 2022 I decided to relocate across the country thinking it would benefit me but once I arrived and realized the position was actually a downgrade and it kind of didn’t exist… So they turned my position into a travel’s person, where I worked from home remotely but traveled 90% of the time. Fast forward end of 2022, I told the company that I will be moving back to my home state and start looking for other opportunities. They immediately asked if I would be interested in taking my old position back since I believe my replacement at the time wasn’t that great.. so I said for the right money and relocation package, I will be interested. Offers were made verbally by the VP of the dept…

Offers were made verbally by the VP of the dept I work for, when I asked if I need to apply for the position, I was told no it will be a 1:1 transfer… not too sure what I was thinking, but this is where I played myself big time. 🙂

5 months ago I started my old job again, no raise, no relocation, basically nothing. In January I did request a call with the VP and during the call he pretty much stated that he was doing me a favor for giving my old job back, and that I shouldn’t expect a relocation since I was the one who wanted to move back home and that I should be lucky. 🙂

Your average person will find a labor attorney but in my case, I’ll just make a fool out of myself. My word against multi billion $ company.

As for why I’m still working for them; there are people that depend on me, I can’t just quit a six figure position since in my state I won’t even get unemployment if I quit willingly

Be smart, don’t be an idiot like me. Always have proof. Emails, letters.. don’t accept anything verbally.

Sincerely,
Corporate slave
