I just read about IBM dropping almost 8000 employees and expecting 30% of certain roles to be done by AI instead within the next 5 year.
They dont HAVE to drop 8k employees they are choosing to. They could keep those people in work and reduce their hours by say 15%, use AI to improve productivity by 30% and leave their wages at the current level.
Their profits/ productivity/ whatever metric they use would still go up 15% along with all the other benefits of having happy workers with a healthier work life balance.
Companies really need to invest in humans and use tech to help them instead of replacing humans with tech . . . if no one has jobs who TF is going to buy their crap??
