dunkin franchise from hell

on mobile. please excuse formatting and typos, i can't be arsed. i have worked on and off at dunkin for a couple years. every franchise is privately owned, therefore has its own set of benefits, guidelines, grooming standards, etc. As, i'm currently stuck between a rock and a hard place, i decided to give dunkin another shot. This was a different franchise than the one I had previously worked at. I applied and about an hour later was invited to an interview for the following friday. I was hired on the spot of course, and handed paperwork to fill out… one of the questions was “can we call you for extra shifts?”… how polite of you to ask! no I decided to go to dunkin because it's one of the easiest jobs i've ever had and you usually get to eat and drink whatever during your shift while making tips.…

I decided to go to dunkin because it's one of the easiest jobs i've ever had and you usually get to eat and drink whatever during your shift while making tips.

I have 5 years total of customer service, 1 years worth of experience at dunkin. my starting rate? min wage at $13… which they'll reevaluate in 3 months time for a whopping $0.50 increase if you make shift leader… $14 for assistant manager…..okay whatever, at least i'll get to take some money home at the end of my 10 hour shifts! wrong! NO TIPS. those are considered a “holiday bonus”, only to be allowed through the month of december.

You're only allowed coffee and tea free of charge and ONE free bakery item OR sandwich only to be consumed during your (one 15 min or 30 min unpaid) break, which the manager has to comp. This particular franchise makes about $4-500,000 in annual profit; they can certainly afford to lose more than one sandwich per employee (only 3-4 on the floor at a time and shifts are about 8-10 hours. so truthfully 6-8 employees per their 4 locations), especially as so much food is wasted throughout the day during slow periods of business.

forget about being sick. if you wake up before your shift with diarrhoea blowing out of your ass, you better show up! Flat tire on the way? Car won't start? Kid wakes up sick and you can't find a sitter? Grandma died in the night and you wake up to the news? too bad. because even if you call and let them know, if it's less than 4 hours before your shift, it's docked as a “no call, no show”, regardless of the situation, emergency or not.

during orientation, half the managers weren't even tracking that they had new employees when called to ask about starting dates….. needless to say, i will not be showing up for my shift today.
