Early prep for a possible departure

I started a new position at the beginning of this year. I work for an IT department that supports a large plant that makes household products. I think the team is great and I like everyone. A colleague of mine, that has been around for about 7 months ,asked our manager for a possible raise due to expecting his first child and wanting to make at least the same as the rest of us. He’s at 18 an hour we are at 19. Long story short , manager did not provide the raise , colleague asked if it was possible to get a raise on his year anniversary , manager said more than likely no. Pretty fucking lame. On top of that , he told my colleague that we should not be discussing our wage and that we could be disciplined for doing so. So yeah , I’ve been here…

So yeah , I’ve been here for almost 5 months and if I’m not getting a raise at a year then I’m dipping the fuck out. So I guess start looking now to get an early start ?
