I had always been a hard worker and was excited to start my first job out of college at a large corporation. However, my excitement quickly turned to frustration when my boss, Caroline, proved to be a micromanager who constantly criticized my work and belittled me in front of my colleagues. The office culture was toxic, with coworkers competing against each other rather than supporting one another.
The worst and final experience I had with Caroline was when my father passed away unexpectedly. I was devastated and couldn't bring myself to focus on work. I asked Caroline if I could take a few days off to be with my family and attend the funeral, but she refused. She told me that the company couldn't afford to have me out and that I had to come into the office as usual.
I couldn’t believe that she could force such a terrible decision to be made. She said it so coldly it was disgusting. Once she told me that I promptly told her to go fuck herself and never showed my face in that hell hole of an office.
