i work from home (edit: in the us) at an hourly pay rate (recently switched over from salary in same position) and my paycheck was a lot lower than what i expected it would be, so i questioned my employer and was told 30 minute lunch breaks are auto-deducted every work day. this is the very first time i’m hearing of this, and hadn’t noticed any disparities in my paystub until now (because i had let myself trust them and hadn’t even checked in a while).
i work 8-10 hour workdays. and even though i’m at home, i’m on the clock the whole time. i answer any phone calls at any time, and rarely leave my desk/office. i hadn’t checked my paystubs in a while so i’m pissed i let this go by without even being aware.
i know this isn’t a legal advice subreddit, but i wouldn’t be opposed to getting pointed towards a direction i can start towards for reporting my employer to whoever i can report them to.
where can i look for steps i can take against my employer? or at least what subreddits can i pose this question to for legal advice/pointers?
edit: i’m still working for my employer and will definitely be taking 30 mins uninterrupted, but i was just hoping for general pointers in case they get worse and i have to bring it up. in my best interests, i have to stay at the job quietly in the meantime. just wanted some worst case scenario advice.
