Very long story short…
I received a job offer that required me to leave family, leave my home, leave the country… I took it. The salary was just high enough to convince me to make the move (120k usd).
Afrer two weeks in the job, I was called to join a meeting. I entered the room, sat down with the other directors in the company and the CEO who hired me. Not knowing what the meeting was about.
In this meeting, I was accused of overexaggerating multiple things on my resume and even accused of lying on my resume. I did not lie.
Every time I explained in detail why they were wrong with their accusations, they'd bring something new up (which was also wrong). I mentioned that I would be open to providing hard proof of everything they had suspicion about.
They ended up providing me with two options, either to accept 25% less in pay, or to get fired. Ridiculous.
I did not accept either of the options provided, took two days off to mentally and financially understand what my next steps would be. I then mentioned that I wanted EVERYTHING in writing. They then mentioned that on second thought they'd like to honor our original agreement (10k per month for 3 months minimum).
I mentioned then that I was ready to come back to work, they told me not to come in yet as they “thought I would quit given that I took a couple of days off”. And I have since not heard back from them. The salary company that they work with shows that they terminated me (will not receive the pay promised).
What should my next steps be in such situation? I have no money for a lawyer, I am actually forced to move back home given my now terrible financial situation (debt). They really f*cked me over.
