Even in the mental health field

I just took a position at a school district under the supervision of a clinician I like. I interned for them and chalked up the difficulties to remote learning (internship was in 2020 when we were still figuring out how zoom worked). The job is as a therapist at a district with low income and high crime rates in the area. So very high need. Anyway, I was happy to get in there face the red tape challenges even though the pay is roughly$3 per hour less and only 30 hrs a week. This is technically a pay cut and my old job didn't even require an advanced degree! Anyway, she is telling me how excited she is to have me and how they have had a lot of people quit. Anyway, I was happy to get in there face the red tape challenges even though the pay is roughly$3 per hour less and only 30 hrs a week. Anyway, she is telling me how excited she is to have me and how they have had a lot of people quit. I asked why and jokingly asked how they were scaring people off. She said they were all weak and entitled millennials. Cue eye roll. She is mid to late 40s herself. She mentioned that millennials can't take correction and don't want to work same ol lines you hear. She said it's a tough area and parents will fight you at every step. She jokingly said “they might literally fight you”. All this for $27 an hour (in CA) No wonder the other people quit! I am riding out this school year and collecting my hours and just referring kids out to other therapists who are adequately compensated to deal with the difficulties of this field.
