In the Netherlands, where I am from. Lots of types of companies are fully unionised. So for intstance, if you are a school or a hospital. Automatically all the jobs fall under the Collective Labour Agreement. I looked up an english version to share here. Its for Univerity jobs. Its a 130 something pages long. So maybe not read the whole thing, but lookup sick leave. Or maternaty leave. Or this gem:
“An employee is entitled to six weeks of leave in the event of adoption or when a foster child is admitted for permanent care and education, which leave can be taken during the period stipulated in the Work and Care Act.”
