Hi, I am working in a market research field. My team is comparatively smaller and most of them have been in this field for quite some time. They either have learnt how to take up less work or just are able to showcase that the current work is enough for them.
My manager recently joined and he is new to this type of work, even not knowing how to set up or refresh a pivot table. The team members showcase that they have huge amount of work and as I am new to the field and come from a previous worke which was very much fast paced, I tend to do things proactively.
Over the months as rest of the team members either find an excuse or just take up a leave during most important meetings, my manager has started to dump more and more work on me just so that his managers do not call him out on his inefficiency.
Is there a way to manoeuvre through this? As for a fact I have realised the more sincerely you do your work or if you are good at your work that means you are handed more work.
Any other process related tasks are dumped as well, there are months where I am allocated twice or sometimes thrice the number of projects which eventually makes me stretch hours and work weekends and is leading to frustration.
I have tried highlighting the imbalance of allocated work even to other leads, but there is no solution and all I am asked is to wait a while till some restructuring happens.
Any tips to get through as I am barely a year old into the organization. All suggestions welcome!
