Faking covid symptoms to get time off

Has anybody here done this before? Have employers given you any trouble for it? Is asking for proof of a positive test common? I’m figuring that the argument on my end is strong and easy to pull off, because if I don’t have any take home tests, and claim to have strong, clear symptoms, then the responsible thing to do is to stay home as opposed to going outside to get a test. Or even if my test ends up coming out negative, I could say it’s just as a precaution. Any thoughts? Or anything I should know before doing this? I very badly need to take one specific day off next weekend so this is a backup plan for they say no to me. Edit: this is my backup plan in case they deny my request to take next Saturday off, because I REALLY need to take that day…
