I am a manager at a steakhouse. I tested positive for COVID and the flu on Thursday. It is now Sunday, and I’ve been off since I tested positive. My team has been down a manager already, and was forced to work through graduation (large college town) and mother’s day weekend without me. I feel so bad that my GM and AGM have worked 32 hours in the last 48. But I also know it’s not my fault for getting sick. How can I show them I appreciate their hard work this weekend without “admitting” to not “carrying my weight”. Ya know, cause I have the literal plague. Would an edible arrangement be okay? A handle of tequila? I’m I internalizing my responsibility under capitalism too much?
I will also mention we had more guests and more sales in the last two days than the WHOLE last month.
I know this isn’t quintessential r/antiwork, but I’m hoping the antiwork crowd can help me reframe my guilt into something more…healthy? Solid.
I hope this makes sense to someone.
