Hey all, I just need to rant about this. I’ve been with this company for almost three years and almost quit twice now. I’m a graphic designer for a medical clinic group which I can’t really name since I currently work there and haven’t found a new job yet. We do campaigns during certain times for enrollment periods, vaccinations, and other things. Since last year, I’ve been in the thick with these campaign plus managing my projects and the people running this shit are toxic and ridiculous. Last year, I was pregnant and had to stay up to 1am to make changes touching 20 something different layouts at least 14 times sometimes more. Because paid maternity leave and health insurance is linked to my job, I felt absolutely helpless and stuck. A couple weeks ago, we had to redesign an entire campaign where the art direction came from someone who is not a designer but is very comfortable with clip art. The whole thing was due within a few days and included 26 pieces just from me. Today, we were told that another campaign’s deadline was moved up from next Friday to this Friday. I had PTO for tomorrow and Friday. Yes, I should take my scheduled PTO, but I’m not sure if my boss won’t rescind this. Oh, and I have a baby.
It just pisses me off how much executive level people just treat anyone beneath them like absolute shit and like our entire lives should be dedicated to their service. I activated my account on job hunting sites and will be sprucing up my resume and portfolio site.
TL:DR company has shit deadlines and I felt the need to rant about as a new mom.
