I work in small government in a cubicle in an office…working basically an IT job but not in the IT dept. Long story short everyone hates me when I tell them they need to fix something in how they process their work.
People get even angrier when I tell them /I/ need to fix something to make their work easier.
(I'm 25 and most people working under me are around 50-60 years of age and think I'm trying to make their life hard.)
Have you guys seen the movie office space? It's sad how much my life resembles that even without the angry coworkers. My boss hawks me all the time.
I was promised a raise but due to our board of supervisors hating their staff, raises never get approved. I was supposed to get a 6 dollar pay raise. They managed a 1 dollar raise at least but it was disappointing. I'm making more than most people in my town but that's honestly more sad than impressive as the only other options in town are fast food or factory work.
We have “benefits” that are mandatory and take about 1/4 out of our paycheck. I technically make 45k but I can tell you my take home is barely 25k after all is said and done. My benefits don't even cover anything. I have Ortho coverage so I decided to get Invisalign since it says they cover half. Well what I didn't see was that the fine print says 1/2 coverage * up to $1,500. What kind of orthodontic work is less than 3k?
I've been applying for remote work to try an expand my options but I'm one applicant among hundreds of others. In the past few months I've applied for around 60 jobs on indeed. I only heard back from one and they said they'd keep my application as they liked my skill set and met many of their qualifications but I was ultimately not selected for the job.
I'm just ranting mostly but I just hate feeling like I'm stuck here.
