Hello everyone,
I’m pretty new to this and if you don’t mind sharing your opinions. I’d really appreciate!
And apologies in advance if my sentences are not perfectly formed, because English is not my first language.
So I work for a caregiver union in WA state. I then realized they have a super toxic environment. And their turn over rate is extremely high. I’ve tried and last for 2 years trying to get by. But I’ve decided it’s not healthy and I need to focus on myself.
I did participate in the admin position for a few months to help out but also dealing with their horrible treatments. Constantly insinuated that the incompetent of mine causing me not getting that promotion (they have 9 ppl worked on that but no one lasts). I chose to let it slide because it could be me not meeting the standards.
So anyway, recently I went through a facial treatment that requires to stay away from the Sun at least 30 days. I expressed that concern to the head of HR when they asked me to come to the office for equipment exchange, and she offered nothing but rudeness. She even told me that the weather on that day is overcast and I won’t have to be worried about direct sunlight. Lol
I asked if the equipment could be ship or move the date further due to the condition of mine.
I then copied and pasted the UV fact from a health article. Told her that she is not a physician to give such input. I expressed that I feel harassed because of my medical condition.
She said that my email considered as disrespectful and yelling due to the information I copied turned out in different front. Then she offered that I will have to pay for shipping fees and such.
Long story short, I decided this thing has to stop and I would not bother to participate in any due to the lack of consideration they have for they employees. But during the admin training, there was like at least 1 termination every other week. And I was told that they will hold the terminated employee’s check until they return their work equipment. I was such an ignorant to believe in that.
I just found out that it is illegal in most of the States. And I have a couple of questions here:
-
Do you know if once the employee signs the agreement when they first start, those employers like this can get get around and still hold your final check?
-
I have no intentions keeping any of their trashy/low performance laptop. But if they send out the note to return their laptop within a timeframe. And if I miss the deadline, will I be in trouble if they file the Police report?
