What am I legally obligated to provide to them?
I finally quit my 13.50/hr (with a college degree) job in a toxic environment this morning. My husband is SO proud of me knowing my worth and getting the courage to dump the employer who: often knew I was working through lunch and wouldnt let me leave early/told me to go back to my desk and then not pay me for the hour worked.
Made me use my accrued sick time for a hospitalized 12 week miscarriage instead of counseling me on the bereavement policy or FMLA and then lectured me on how many kids my husband and I have and that I didn't need more.
Along with countless of other micro-aggressions and OSHA violations… of which there are MANY.
Boss texted they want me to physically come in and give them:
-Keys (my husband actually just drove those over for me)
-Password to computer and all company accounts.
-Sent emails (i actually deleted my emails the friday before i quit, not knowing if i was suppposed to or not but i had personal messages from my kids when they emailed me at work, etc)
-All work I have provided to vendors for the month.
Do I HAVE to go in? I gave my resignation to the director (my boss's boss) over email, can I do any of these things over email too?
I quit because my mental health just couldn't go back one more time. Quitting was out of character for me but a huge deal because I dont ever have that kind of courage. But I just cant go back there again.
I only get paid once a month and I assume theyll withhold my last check if I dont do these things but at this point, I already suspect my boss will short my hours anyway. Can I get into any trouble, legally, by not providing these things?
