Theres something weird going on with my girlfriend job hunting wise, which indeed means this isn't my own personal experience, but I've seen it happen before my eyes and its heart breaking.
Lil bit of context: my girlfriend is an immigrant into my country, Canada, who just moved into a medium sized city for studying purposes. She had a certain amount of money saved up, but the plan was to search for a job for a month or 2 max MAX and start building up funds/live off of that.
Now the issue: it has been 3 months, she has applied to at least, AT LEAST, a hundred job applications of all sorts, going from cashier for anything, to fast food places,, to mall clerk, anything. She only had 3 interviews, and no call backs. She mostly uses online job application sites and has shown me how most applications have been rejected. Her CV is completely fine, even better than mine as she worked multiple jobs in her old town. Her money reserves are growing thin, and as much as I'm there to cushion her fall, I'm also a student and I can't do too much either.
I've heard of these temp agencies, but the one my gf had contacted only sent her links for job applications which turned out like the rest. Idk if we did it wrong or what but it hasn't been fruitful.
It's to the point that I suggested applying for Employment Insurance.
So yeah… I guess that's it… I'm stressed AF as a bystander so I can't imagine what she's going thru. Have a nice one my friends.
