I thought I finally found a happy little place in this cesspool called America.
Last month I had accepted a job into a company, but then out of the blue I got headhunted and was made an offer an additional 30% of what I was making. Thought it too good to be true and it was contract to hire. I didn't want something through a recruiter because I've been burned before. Nah, they assured me. This is just how they hire because we have a long term contract.
Okay I said.
I regretfully told the job I had already accepted. And started the new one on the same start date. It was surprisingly great.
They were unstructured but had plans to correct all that. They were going to hire two more techs. We'll, at least that was what was said the first couple weeks.
Then… oh, we need a Citrix guy.
You know, this guy was so expensive to hire that the money needed to come from somewhere. My position. It was eliminated so one guy could do one thing and it cost three workers.
I was convinced that they would be hiring me. I celebrated my birthday yesterday and today they said it was my last day.
Really feel like ending it all. What is the point? You leave something stable, coerced into thinking this was a done deal. Then the recruiter ghosts you. You return you equipment and wonder what the fuck you are going to do for you mortgage and car payment.
Now I get to spend independence day depressed. If anyone needs me I'll be downing liquor like a 1950s housewife.
Fuck this entire system.
