I might as well take responsibility. 1990's: College, took a fucking free internship. free work, fuck that. yea, they did help me by recommending I pay for a certain course to help my career. That certificate I got did help me get a job in the future. They also paid me one day for cleaning the fucking office because they wanted to give me a few dollars. First real paying job, 90's: Holy fuck corruption, lying, horrible environment, sales. Company went under, and I left after a few months for a “better” job that was in a nice building but they paid like $25,000 and it was the same used-car salesman type job (selling stocks). They took me off salary and I left. I drove 500 miles to the big city, started at $6 an hour. After a year I think I got to like $28,000 and then I got a good job, finally. I quit the 28k gig for the better job (35k plus 10k yearly bonus), but after a year the company dissolved (in fact, both companies went under). I got a few months in severance and got a fucking worthless MBA. Then dot.com bubble. First job, after two weeks, laid off 50% of the company. I lasted a year, knowing I had no future. Unemployment. Next company, better pay but also dissolved. done. unemployment. next company also got bought out, unemployment. Next company, didn't pay me for a month, so I left. I did take action and we settled on a much smaller number. Next company only wanted me 10-months out of a year. I took it, of course. I'm so used to getting fucked by now. Next company 3.5 months, next company 5 months. Left the former one because they lied about the contract and didn't pay me the first week, second company was when COVID got bad. Next company paid 22 out of 24 months, COVID whatever fucked me and NOW my next company is already talking about changing my contract. LOL. WTF.
Not married, no kids, very athletic, and of course I hate fucking working because I'm sick of getting fucked so often. It has to be my fault, and of course I have trust issues. I must have a sign on my head that says “FREE FUCK.” Bright side, not broke, yet. Technically, I've only worked about 13 years in the last 25. Seems fucking crazy, but I guess unemployment was probably 3-4 years. lol. Back in the day I'd get a check for like $15,000 as a bonus and could live off that for a long time. I tried creating companies, years of hiring software engineers to try shit….but I failed getting it off the ground. I don't consider this as part of working since it didn't produce any income.
Laugh at my life, I'm laughing now. The only upside is all this time off has kept me looking young (55 and probably look 45 and can exercise with kids in their 20's) and keeping me out of the hospital for decades.
EDIT: When I say first job, first professional job. Yea, I was a lifeguard for three summers, waiter, and all that shit.
The big FUCKING moment, I had FIVE interviews with Goldie (GS) and apparently failed the interview with the psychologist. I wish they would have saved me some time and told me why they thought I was soooo fucked. lol. Once when a company laid off staff, the owner bought a new sports car the next day. Yea, I hate companies.
