I am writing this because a little while ago, someone was confused, and expected me to give a fuck. As always, the person was someone I was supposed to help. A patient, a medical patient thought I gave a fuck. But for 11 dollars an hour? How could I? Your ride did not come? Well, that sucks, But I'm hungry and underpaid and I've done the bare fucking minimum that I need to do, so I am moving the fuck on thanks.
My bosses understand I don't give a fuck. I do the bare minimum to get by. My position has a high turnover rate. Everyone who trained with me is already gone. The company does not give raises to my position either. I will get a raise if I get promoted. Basically, someone slightly above me has to find a new job or die.
I do like my job. The pay is SHIT. But it's easy. The thing is tho, for this pay, I can go literally anywhere else and make the same if not more. (I already have offers for slightly more, but my job is so easy I don't wanna leave unless it's like 5+ more) So if they fire me, I can find another job easily. But they won't fire me. Cause I show up every day just to do the bare minimum.
When you go to a fast-food restaurant and the order is wrong, there is literally only two reasons,
1) A kid made it, and kids do not give a fuck.
2) An underpaid adult made it. And underpaid adults do not give a fuck about a shitty job that can be easily replaced with another shitty job.
Again, I only wrote this because a lot of people, patients, and customers act confused when I or other people at the bottom of society don't go above and beyond to help them.
Bad customer service cost large corporations billions in America.. But you get what you pay for.
I do talk to doctors. Nurses, Case Manager, Patients. I work remotely, and more than half the time I am just browsing job boards, even while talking to the doctors I am doing something else. ALWAYS. 11 an hour is not enough for someone to survive on without help. So, 11 an hour is not enough to get my undivided attention. If I got paid more, if everyone in my position got paid more, less mistakes would be made. And we might actually take time to fix the little things that cost them money.
