Forced to quit so you can’t receive unemployment benefits.

I am curious if anyone knows of any actions to take if you were forced/coerced into quitting so that you would not be approved for unemployment benefits. It happened to me about a year ago and thankfully I have a new and better job now, but I wanted to see if there is anything that can be done now or if it’s just something to be aware of in the future. For those that haven’t had this happen, don’t ever let a company make you feel pressured to quit. Ask them if you are being fired and ask to get it in writing. Don’t let them make it look like it was voluntary. Since it wasn’t performance related and I wasn’t leaving on bad terms, I felt like I had to for the sake of references and not being longterm unemployed and burning bridges. I was naive at the time…

I was naive at the time and didn’t know that I was getting screwed out of unemployment but I know better now. Don’t play nice when being let go because they will just use that against you and screw you.

Anyone have a success story of a company that tried to screw them out of unemployment but failed?
