Hello, everyone. I’m here to vent, and I basically never post, so forgive my formatting if it’s terrible.
I used to work for a special kind of pharmacy. It was small but very profitable back in its heyday. I wish I had heeded the warnings on Glassdoor before I accepted the position, but I naively thought “it can’t be that bad”.
Among other things, they have been raided by the FBI for illegal drug distribution. They routinely preformed what us seasoned vets called “Purges”, or arbitrarily firing a few people from every department to keep costs down. I have seen instances where drugs were shipped to a state we weren’t licensed in.
Oh, and one time a manager was fired for logging onto her team’s computers after they left for the day. They were required to all use the same password, so she knew how to log on and read personal chats, emails, etc. Aren’t you glad such stringent measures were taken to protect patient information? This was the same manager that used had already managed this department and got yanked and reassigned to a do-nothing role because she couldn't stop stirring the pot, which caused people to quit in mass. They stupidly put her back in charge a few years later, which is when she pulled the “spy on my employees” stunt.
I knew from working there that if a call came in for HR and you reached out to let them know someone needed help, the response was always: Tell them I’m “in a meeting” hehe!
…I should have known this was coming. I should have known it would be no different when it was “my turn”, so to speak.
So… I have been trying for WEEKS to get my W-2s. I needed one that had my earnings from before the company was acquired last year, and another from after the acquisition. I have been emailing the one person (let’s call her Molly) who works in HR for weeks, and I continue to get the runaround.
“It’s coming”
“It’ll be sent when they’re finished”
“It went in the mail just the other day.”
Well, we’re 2 weeks past the federal deadline, and not a damn thing has shown up in the mail. Finally, I requested them to be emailed to me. So Molly sends me one out of two. I get the post-acquisition W2.
I spend another week politely requesting updates on the pre-acquisition W-2 from before the company was purchased and rebranded under another LLC, and get the same non-answers. My favorite was “I don’t have access to those.”
I finally broke down and called the company. I got lucky when a former coworker answered the call, who oh-so-kindly informed me that current employees received BOTH W-2s weeks ago. This entire time, they’ve had them, and just didn’t want to lift a finger. This former coworker also gave me the name of who to contact from the previous company to get what I need. Let's call him Brad. Unfortunately, she didn't have his email, but she did have a name. It was enough for me to go off of.
I checked with some other people I remained friendly with after I (and they) left the company. Apparently, only current workers have what they need to file their taxes. Everyone I’ve spoken to who is no longer working for the pharmacy hasn’t seen a single W-2. They, too, have received the same non-answers about them. I’m convinced that the only reason I received anything is because I continue to be a pain in the ass about it.
I finally dropped the nice act and emailed Molly again today, demanding the paperwork I need, and that she CC the person my colleague told me about in her response. Apparently she didn't like my sudden change in approach, since she only responded, “I have forwarded this to Brad.”
I responded immediately. As soon as I mentioned I would be reporting them to the IRS, magically, the other W-2 appeared in my inbox. Imagine that!
Fuck you, Molly.
Edited to try and fix the weird spacing
