So to preface this I have a pre-existing back condition that can flare up and cause me excruciating pain. I explained this to my team lead in the first week I started my job.
On Sunday afternoon after a week of pain my back flared up and left me in agony. When it gets to that stage I can’t sit, stand or walk. Even lying down causes me pain. On the Sunday night I got no sleep even after heavy duty pain meds and anti inflammatories. I made a doctors appointment Monday morning and called my team lead to inform them I would not be coming in that day.
I went to see the doctor and the pain was so bad I broke down in the doctors office after telling me they could do nothing but send me to ED. I ended up sitting in ED for 7 hours yesterday.
After getting home I took a picture and emailed my team lead my medical certificate excusing me from work for the week and an apology for the lateness as it was almost midnight when I got back from ED.
I ended up with a text from a coworker this morning asking if I was coming in. I told her no and that my team lead already knew.
Apparently she did not know as she sent me a text outraged I’d ‘only told Lola I wasn’t coming in and that’s not how we do things here!’ Because she hadn’t bothered to check her damn email.
I ended up calling and she expected all the details. It’s medical, she doesn’t need to know but apparently that’s not good enough.
This whole place is so dodgy we’ve had 2 long term managers, 1 admin and 3 nurses quit in less than 4 weeks in my state alone.
I think I should probably get out while I can…
