FYI some landlords allow pets to screw you out of your deposite

Rented an apartment at one point because they were the only place I could find with a reasonable amount for rent AND they allowed cats and small dogs for pets. Stayed there for about 8 months before I moved out of state. They sent back what was left of my deposite after an 800$ deduction from it claiming that my cat urinated all over the edges of the carpet during my stay. I know this was a lie because I was cleaning my cats litter box out daily and also cat piss smells horrible if left unattended. I also had friends and family help move me out and clean the place before I left. Nobody saw or could smell any sign of cat pee anywhere. Made sense why the landlord didn't require a walkthrough of the place before I left. Which was a mistake on my part. Lesson learned.
